Apparently I am not so efficient when it comes to blogging consistently. Oh well. Many days I think that I don't slow down enough to figure out something to write about, which is interesting because this last week was insanely busy for Benjie and I, yet I found myself with many things to write and not the time to write them. Benjie was in a wedding of a couple of friends of ours, so involvement in bachelor/bachelorette parties, rehearsals/rehearsal dinners and the wedding itself were in full swing all week long. The bachelorette party I went to was way fun; the people were great to get to know, and the wedding itself was gorgeous and very entertaining, yet the greatest thing about this last week was the joy I had. I enjoyed casual conversation with people I don't even really know; I enjoyed getting ready for the wedding and donning my African maternity dress; I enjoyed my daughter immensely throughout the madness of wedding gift shopping and last minute outfit exchanges for Benjie; I enjoyed my husband in the few moments that we actually got to spend together; and I enjoyed taking pictures of the wedding so much.
I asked myself why there was so much delight in all of this for me. It was so simple. I looked past the vision of the whole weekend being so busy, and I looked instead at the beauty of each moment. I enjoyed the music, so to speak, of each minute and savored every last drop of experience out of them. In this state of mind, even the way that the sunlight spills across a field and even the warm glow of a lantern or the elegant presentation of a fine meal becomes enthralling. The laugh and toothy grin of a 1-year-old, the conversations, hugs and kisses of a lover, the shared smile of friends becomes a rich, delectable platter of delight to indulge in.
It is all simplicity really. How can I not find joy in the gifts that I have around me?

You are a beautiful pregnant woman! I love the picture of the two of you. What a gorgeous couple who makes gorgeous babies! Thanks for the reminder to enjoy all the moments we have and not get overwhelmed with the big picture.
You shine so bright, Megan Nicole Danquah! Thanks for lighting up my heart this moment :)
gratitude is huge. Thanks for reflecting on all the beautiful things that have been surrounding you lately. You gave me the 'nudge' I needed to focus on the lovely again.
