Grace and Truth

"And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth." John 1:14

"For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ." John 1:17

Grace in the Greek: graciousness (as gratifying), of manner or act (abstract or concrete; literal, figurative or spiritual; especially the divine influence upon the heart, and its reflection in the life; including gratitude):--acceptable, benefit, favor, gift, grace(- ious), joy, liberality, pleasure, thank(-s, -worthy).

Truth in the Greek: truth:--true, truth, verity

Lately, I have loved that my friend Holy Spirit is bringing up the concept of grace and truth to me and a couple of people I meet with weekly. We have been seeking to chew on the richness of the two together. Jesus had both grace and truth...he was FULL of both grace and truth. I feel like grace and truth are the meat of the man Jesus. There is so much depth in those two words that I cannot even begin to feast on their richness...their absolute pure, robust flavor that seasons my life; every second of it actually if I could but just understand or even scratch the surface of understanding them.

I love that grace in the Greek has the meaning LIBERALITY and JOY and PLEASURE. It sets us free!!! It gives us happiness in the true sense of that word. And the man Jesus was FULL of this liberality and joy and pleasure. And truth too. They went hand in hand with him as a person. So, in essence, happiness and liberality and pleasure are truth. Grace is also defined in the Greek as a gift. The gift of freedom, happiness, and pleasure are mine for the taking because my savior came full of those things! I love it!

How many times do we refuse these gifts simply because we are unaware for the presence of the Holy Spirit? I pray we become AWARE of Him and ask to SEE Him everywhere.
