A Day Like This...

Hey Y'all.  I said it a few months ago.  I said that I was going to move over to Wordpress.  I admit that I don't exactly like the way they do their formatting for blogs, so here I am again.  Back at my own blog and excited because my good friend Kristin at sunflowereyes nominated me for an award for having a blog with substance.  How cool is that?  Next post I will get to that, I promise.

But right now, I needed to write about this day.  This is a special day.  First of all, I married an amazing man five years ago today.  Talk about a person of substance!  I am grateful beyond words for the gift that my bedazzling Father gave me in him.  We've weathered a storm this past year, and I'm overjoyed to say that it has drawn us to deeper intimacy with one another.  Babe, I'm so thankful we are partnered together in this journey of life, and I love walking every step with you!!!

Here's the other thing I can say about this day: it is thick with nostalgia for me.  The weather outside is the most perfect one could wish for.  A warm 77 degrees, sunny, not too hot, perfect.  Complete.  So gorgeous.  The atmosphere literally takes me to Colorado in my mind; to those immaculately radiant fall days, warm and clear.  Actually, our wedding day (October 8th, 2005) was a day just like today.

Today makes me thankful for my past.  Today makes me thankful for my journey thus far, the one that has been filled with joy, pain, beauty and sorrow.  The journey of my life.

We were just looking at the photos from your wedding, and remembering how little all the kiddos were. Seems like yesterday.
